Partnerships with Schools
Overview
Our Partners in Education are very important to us, we work in local schools during curriculum time and extended school periods, our geographical coverage covers Stoke on Trent, Newcastle Borough and Staffordshire Moorlands:
Curriculum Sports
Local schools receive football and multi sports delivery during curriculum time throughout the school calendar year. We regards these educational partners as our Official Community Schools.
Port Vale Player Ambassadors visit community schools every other week to take part in classroom and other school activities, children look to them as positive role models.
Age Appropriate
Children from Reception to Year 8
Extended School Provision
Our Community Sports Coaches provide after school sessions each night of the week, this is a positive way to engage with local children at a time when parents are still at work, certificates for attendance and match tickets are available to participants.
Age Appropriate
Children from reception to year 8
Re-Connect
The Vale in the Community team led by Education Adviser Chris Taylor have worked extensively with Haywood Engineering College and Brownhill Maths and Computing College to offer support to students who are underperforming or not in education.
Community staff have mentored the students and have offered additional academic support to build confidence, raise aspirations and ultimately improve attainment, sessions have taken place in school and at the community learning resource centre in Hamil Road.
This service is available to other local schools on request or where there is an identified need.
The early successes gained through this project has led to the development of a family intervention project called Re-Connect, this initiative is supported by Connexions and the Local Authority.
