Fund Raising Intitiatives
Overview
Vale in the Community staff organise Penalty shootout competitions in local schools during curriculum time, this is a fun way to engage with children and raise much needed additional funds for school and the Vale in the Community Charity. The format for the day involves community staff arriving early before school begins to assemble goals for the keepers, mark out areas for the shootout and begin registering the children class by class, community goalkeepers then face 5 penalties from each child.
Of course whenever there is an opportunity to kick footballs about our club mascot Boomer is never far away the football mad Staffordshire Bull Terrier will usually not stop barking until we relent and let him go in goal to face shots from reception and years one and two.
Children from the participating school take sponsor forms home to ask neighbours and relatives to pledge their support, once all the money is collected it is returned to school and following our post competition prize giving assembly the money is divided equally by the school and the Vale in the Community Charity, all monies raised during the year from our many activities is re-invested to secure the employment of our current staff and to create further new jobs for local people which in turn allows us to reach out to a much wider audience.
