Home Team Heroes Help Kids Play Ball

Since the Launch of this new exciting initiative in November 2010 Football League Club's up and down the country have been organising voting opportunities for their supporters to be actively involved in the decision making process to decide which of three options they would like their club community trust to deliver in local schools.
The three options were:
1. RESPECT - a training shop for children age 10 which is focussed on team work and citizenship.
2. COACHING - Developing the sports skills of 4 to 6 year old children with a particular emphasis on Agility/Balance/Co-ordination.
3. PLAYGROUND - Improvement or clean up of a public open space or school playground and provide new markings to enable sports use.
Volker Beckers RWE nPower CEO said:
"This scheme is all about giving power tro the fans. As a new sponsor we didnt want to come in with a "one size fits all" approach. Instead , were asking the communities around each club to vote and tell us which option suits them best".
Greg Clarke, Chairman of the Football League, said:
"Football League Clubs are an integral part of their local communities, demonstrating that football has the power to make a difference to peoples lives. Whichever project each community votes for - be it Respect workshops, sports skills development or the improvement of local spaces - our clubs will be actively engaging with local children to encourage them to get involved in football.
nPowers Home Team Heroes programme aims to engage over half a million children over 3 years.
